The Kansas City Direct Marketing Association will present the two-day DM Days event with the theme "Don't Gamble Your Marketing Dollars...Use Direct." The event includes "The Basics of Direct Marketing" all-day seminar on Wednesday, March 2, and a full day of speakers on Thursday, March 3, at the Overland Park Convention Center, 6100 College Blvd., Overland Park, Kan.
On Wednesday, March 2, Pat Friesen of Pat Friesen & Co., Leawood, Kan., will present "The Basics of Direct Marketing," an 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. workshop offering proven direct marketing tips for both new and seasoned direct marketers. Guest speakers Lois Boyle and Steve Trollinger of J. Schmid & Assoc. Inc., Merriam, Kan., will present a case history.
Also on March 2, the "Ambit Awards 005" event, starting at 6:30 p.m., will recognize the best work of local direct marketers in 2004. James Bond impersonator John Allen, winner of the 2004 Cloney Award for Best Impersonation of a Living Legend, will emcee the event. Nicholson Kovac is sponsoring his appearance. The Direct Marketer of the Year Award will also be presented during the event.
The main conference runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 3. Keynote speaker Eric Schmitt, senior analyst with Forrester, Cambridge, Mass., will speak on "Direct Marketing Trends."
During the luncheon Jack Schmid of J. Schmid & Assoc. Inc. will speak on "How KCDMA Helped Me Succeed." The Young Direct Marketer of the Year will be presented during the luncheon.
