Jon Roska, chief creative officer of Roska Direct, Philadelphia, will provide tips on using direct response techniques to build a brand, in his presentation "Fusion Marketing...A New Kind of Marketing." The Kansas City Direct Marketing Association monthly meeting will be on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Homestead Country Club, 6510 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, Kan. Roska, founding partner of Roska Direct, has pioneered acquisition and marketing techniques now used in the business-to-business, consumer and healthcare sectors. His awards include Direct Marketer of the Year from the Philadelphia DMA, a Golden Echo and a 2004 John Caples award. Nationally, he is a member of the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation's board of trustees.
Margaret Horan, senior direct response specialist at Kuhn & Wittenborn Advertising and former KCDMA president, will lead a panel discussion of past winners on "How to Win an Ambit" from 2-4 p.m. Attendees will learn about the entry selection and preparation process, plus techniques for evaluating and submitting their best work. The 2006 Ambit awards will be presented March 7. Cost is $20 for members and $30 for nonmembers.
