Account Director, Marketing Manager – Wellington

Account Director

The Account Director (AD) is responsible for the overall success and development of Wellington client relationships. This individual is a proactive and charismatic communicator who is adept at creating and reinforcing strong partnerships. They will ensure outstanding service to high-value clients, and also strive for organic expansion of services provided to the client. This person is instrumental in the sales process, assuming a leadership role on the account. As such, client presentations and follow-up activities are required.

Acting as a front-line point of contact, this tenacious person must have the passion to learn and curate the clients’ brand and marketing strategies and then translate them into innovative event strategy. Creativity and the ability to “think outside the box” are critical.

The AD must have exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to persuade others to accept changes and new ideas – they naturally embrace challenges because they have always been competitive. They are expected to draw on client communication to provide insights and innovation. The knack to think through situations in a deductive nature, yet communicate the thought process easily with both internal and external clients is a priority.

Additionally, strong team and leadership skills are required as the Account Director is responsible for the oversight, coaching, nurture, training and management of the dedicated account team. They must embrace constructive conflict and create a culture of accountability for their team. They must be humble and willing to embrace new strategies and ideas.

The AD should possess organizational skills as he or she will oversee and execute event-planning, team management, marketing oversight and financial management. Budget parameters, company objectives, and deadlines are all intertwined in daily activities.

The Account Director reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for their assigned account team (approximately 5 – 8 people).

Level of experience:

A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study. 5+ years experience in project management and 3+ years experience in team leadership.

Expectations:

Client Relations & Development

  • Energetically represent, craft and implement the Wellington brand in the community and in the industry.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of specific client’s brands, marketing strategies, goals, etc.
  • Build, develop and nurture successful relationships with multiple high-value clients at any one given time by instilling confidence and trust.
  • Manage the concept and logistics development for meetings, incentives, special events and marketing campaigns.
  • Advise clients and act as a consistent resource; address needs and inquires, ensuring their questions are answered promptly and appropriately.
  • Possess the ability to effectively deliver their own new, creative ideas on a consistent basis for aspects within a client project and for overall project direction.
  • Professionally give creative and strategic sales presentations to new and existing clients.
  • Accountable for reselling current clients and booking new business while leading proposal research and development processes.
  • Generate sales leads through networking and referrals.

Team Leadership

  • Optimistically and effectively manage the assigned Wellington account team – including training, developing, and coaching each member of the account team.
  • Schedule and lead collaboration meetings with the assigned Wellington account team to develop strategy and ensure consistent service level standards.
  • Approve and monitor program specifications, timelines, budget parameters, program profitability, efficiency, and post program wrap up.
  • Attend and take active role in staff meetings and monthly account management meetings.
  • Attend regular training/update meetings with members of the Wellington leadership team to report account status.
  • Develop vendor partnerships and adeptly control contract negotiations.
  • Travel approximately 25 percent of the year – long days/light lifting.

Marketing Manager

The Marketing Manager (MM) is responsible for the overall success and management of Wellington client marketing projects. This individual is an energetic leader, proactive communicator and passionate about brand curation through design and collateral. The MM manages each element of a client marketing plan including but not limited to strategy, design oversight, pricing, market research, budget management, client communication, and resource distribution. Objectives, deadlines and constant communication are intertwined in daily activities.

Acting as a marketing consultant for the client, the Marketing Manager should possess a poised, influential communication style. The MM will lead in-person and over-the-phone client meetings, discovery sessions and project updates. Relationship building is crucial. The MM must have the ability to read people and situations effectively. They are expected to draw on client communication to provide insights. The knack to think through situations in a deductive nature, yet communicate the thought process easily is a priority.

Additionally, strong project management skills are required as the Marketing Manager is responsible for ensuring all elements throughout the project life cycle are completed accurately and on time. They will execute some elements themselves and effectively collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team members on other elements. They must have experience in planning and executing marketing tactics from emails and banner ads to brochure, web and social executions. The ability to organize and prioritize many projects at one time, and then communicate a clear plan to the team is essential. They must be humble and willing to embrace new strategies while also persuading others to accept new ideas.

The Marketing Manager reports to the Sr. Integrated Marketing Manager.

Level of experience:

Marketing

  •  Experienced with both print and digital marketing executions including display ads, social media advertising and utilizing video as an advertising medium

  • Experienced in mobile foot printing, IP targeting, SEO optimization
  • Understanding of brand development, logo & tagline development, and rebranding experience. Able to effectively lead the client through the difference in building a brand identity and a marketing plan.

Project Management

  • Manage the marketing project plan creation and execution for meetings, incentives, special events and marketing campaigns

The Digital Media Buyer designs and implements cost per click and cost per thousand (CPM) marketing strategies that are aimed at generating and managing internet-advertising based leads to achieve the clients’ return on investment. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and implement interactive marketing strategies based on Client Services suggestions and within client budgets
  • Seek alternative strategies for web properties and individual clients to ensure consistent lead generation to ensure clients goals are met
  • Meet and exceed client goals for, gross revenue, cost of advertising, and net revenue and constantly seek alternative outlets for better results
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with various digital media vendors
